GMN‘s first issue “Progress.” Issue Two is coming from the printer’s today. It’s called “Access.”
As the school year starts and we fall into our groove here at GMN, I’ve been thinking a lot about the community that music creates, specifically how open these communities are. As the Twin Cities youth scene, are we open to those whose voices might not be heard otherwise? How are we making music “accessible”? These are the questions I’ve been asking myself.
Some of us can’t attend shows for artists we love because they have age restrictions. Some of us are marginalized as minority voices in music journalism. All of us have a place at GMN and THE GARAGE, because both are committed to creating safe and accessible spaces for our music community.
A lot of our recent work have centered around this theme and the idea of “Access.” With pieces on Warped Tour, free concerts, and artists like the Bombshells and MC Lars, our second physical issue grapples with music that invites you in on the fun. Whether you are young or old, new to the scene or a veteran, or just plain interested in our writing here at GMN, take a look at our second issue “Access.”
